Placerville, CA Geeknic, July 12th 2009
We have yet another geeknic coming up now, this one in Placerville California, about 45 minutes west of Sacramento. The event will take place at Lotus Park.
Take the Ponderosa Road exit (at Shingle Springs) off Highway 50, go North (left if you are heading towards Tahoe, right if you are heading towards Sacramento). Turn right onto North Shingle Road. Follow the double-yellow line. The road will change names a couple times, first to Green Valley Road, then to Lotus Road. Just keep on it. After several miles, you’ll go up a hill, past a volunteer fire station on the left. At the top of the hill, there will be a school, Sutter’s Mill School, on your left. Keep going straight, this just tells you that you’re very good at staying on the same road.
You will go down a hill now. At the bottom, there’s some twisting and at one point, there’s a surprise stop sign. Try not to blow through the stop sign. Lotus Park is about a mile, maybe less, past the surprise stop sign, on the left. There are signs. And it’s got a large, green, open area.
If you find yourself at a T-intersection with no ability to just keep going straight, it means you’ve overshot Lotus Park by around a half a mile or so. Just get turned around in a parking lot (there’s plenty to choose from if you turn left at the T-intersection). Obviously, it will now be on your right.

Philadelphia – April 19th 2009
Not to be shown up by our European friends, us lazy Americans have gotten off our tushes to make ours be the first geeknic instead! Ok, so actually it just sort of happened that way, but in any event the first US geeknic will be held in just 2 weeks, in the Philadelphia area.
We’ll be happy to see you there. The event is being organized by the Pennsylvania Ubuntu LoCo, and more information on what food to bring and how to attend can be found here. Please make sure to let us know you’ll attend so proper preperations can be made, and get to work on that potato salad!
Dublin – May 9th 2009

To kick off our summer of geekery, we’re setting off to a country famed for it’s green fields, rugby squad and guinness. We’re heading over to Ireland, where Dublin is playing host to the first Geeknic of the year. (Ok, our American friends have actually beat us to it and scheduled one in advance of ours. If you’re in the Eastern US, check out the Philadelphia geeknic this month!)
Throughout the summer we’ll be arranging geeknic’s on a monthly basis, the location will change each month and quite likely as will the attendees. We hope to see as many of you as possible join us!
